MANI BRINGS DANCE TO TOWN

Mani-IndexDJ Mani told the competition to “bring it on" with his Step Up And Bring It On event on Saturday. It was a hectic weekend schedule in the city, with two hip hop celebrities scheduled to perform, on Friday (Grandmaster Vic at Blue Frog) and Saturday (Mr. Cheeks with GM Vic at Club Twist) that forced him to think out of the box. So he came up with an event inspired by the currently running dance hit movie Step Up 3D.

The night started off with him rocking his crowd to his usual tunes, hip hop dancehall and everything. Then to kick off the performances, dancer Tina Jacob took to the floor to enthrall the audience with a contemporary hip hop & Arabic fusion dance. The crowd went wild on this with many having to be restrained from jumping on the floor to steal her limelight.

Next came Ruel Dausan Varindani who had his routine worked out to Timbaland's Morning After Dark. That got the place so heated up, that by the time he was done with his moves, the club had become a battleground for dancers eager to prove they rule the dance floor in this city. Security had to step in as the DJ pled over the mic for some order, but no one was listening, even Mani’s console came in the way of some excited patrons, but luckily there was no damage. The battle finally boiled down to two indefatigable ladies who went at each other with their dancing skills while the rest wildly cheered on.

Eventually, after restoring order, the party moved on to the next performance, Rapper JD came in to check the microphone. He took it and began spitting on Dr. Dre’s Still Dre. The crowd was already in frenzy by now, and he only fed into it even more. When he finally dropped his last performance on Justin Beiber’s Baby, ladies were out of control as they substituted the chorus and sang JD, JD, JD, ooooh JD.

By the end of the night, DJ Mani was under siege, the patrons wanted more of the limited CDs he had distributed to lucky members of the audience. The CD contained his selection of tracks from the Step Up series, plus 2 of his original tracks.

So did he live up to his word? He said he would run the illest party last weekend despite the international acts, well, we let you decide that.
