Hip hop may be struggling in the city, but it is definitely not dead.

Leading lady of hip hop DJ Ishani will be back tonight (3rd Oct. 2012) doing what she does best, rocking the house to the sounds of nothing but hip hop music at Bandra’s I Bar.

The event is the Ladies Night at the club which has notably been holding down the hip hop fraternity not just musically, but also by hosting the Monster MCs' Battles on Mondays, a one of a kind event in the city at the moment.

Ishani is currently one of the most accomplished hip hop DJs in the country and is also among the few who still stand strong by the genre while many others have defected to EDM, the current rage in town.

Despite the fact that playing pop, dance and electronic would instantly fill up her diary with gigs given the experience and skill she has, the former Zenzi resident DJ says “it’s all about the passion, not the money”, therefore she is fine even though the hip hop gigs are no longer as frequent as they used to be once upon a time.

With a good number of fans having already confirmed their attendance for the gig which kicks off at 9 PM, it will be a breath of fresh air for any hip hop head who has had to put up with whatever is on offer since we don’t have all the choices we had back then when Mumbai had no less than four hip hop gigs every week.
