REVIEW:THE WAR REPORT – C.N.N.

The_War_Report1The album which dropped in mid 1997 came out after the turbulent East West Rivalry of the 90's which was a crucial and difficult time for the industry. But Capone-N-Noreaga or CNN to their hardcore fans gave us a classic. The album was released on Penalty/Tommy Boy records and had numerous producers from Lord Finesse, Tragedy Khadafi, Marley Marl, Charlemagne to Buck Wild and many more.

This was an awesome album for the duo. It starts off with a verbal intro with the 2 rappers rhyming over a beat. From then on the album kicks in to life with the song Blood Money which has a piano intro to it. Some of the stand out tracks include Parole Violators, The Way Iraq See The World and the two classics TONY (Top of New York), Closer and LA.For a new duo, the album was a success eventually going gold in time and even though many critics claimed the music was strongly underground and non commercial, it did make the R & B/hip hop Top Ten which was a great start for a new rap duo that was keeping it real at a troubled time for the Industry, which was mourning the loss of Pac and Big.
Guests on this record included Busta Rhymes and Mobb Deep. It was truly an album which reps the streets hard and is a classic for sure. I would rate this 4 out of 5, it’s worth it and a must listen to for those who love street anthems and street talk.
